Plans to protect people and the environment are on a knife edge at the UN climate talks. The UK government must act now to back a fairer, more just future before it’s too late.
The climate crisis is reshaping economies and societies. Yet too often these transitions are unfair and unjust – deepening inequality, excluding workers and communities, and undermining rights.
At the climate talks, countries have come together to agree a new process – called the Belém Action Mechanism – that would see everyone benefit from the transition away from fossil fuels. Think access to cheap, clean energy, good quality food and secure, well-paid jobs.
But the UK delegation aren’t getting on board.
We must urgently change their minds.
Write to Secretary of State Ed Miliband, urging him to back a fairer future and champion the Belém Action Mechanism. Act now before time runs out to secure an agreement at the climate talks.
