Green our streets for the climate

Over 80% of us in the UK live in towns and cities. As the climate crisis worsens, urban neighbourhoods are getting hotter and facing worse air pollution.

Street trees have the power to lock in harmful emissions and provide homes for wildlife. They help guard against flooding and clean the air we breathe. Trees also cool our streets especially when heatwaves strike.

But over a third of our urban neighbourhoods lack sufficient access to green space and tree cover. Which will leave those communities to face harsher impacts from climate change. With the most deprived areas being hit hardest.

That’s why we’re calling on the government and councils to ramp up tree planting in our neighbourhoods, starting with the areas that need it most.

To tackle climate change and improve our health, we urgently need more trees in our urban communities. If you agree add your name today.
